Regroupant des photographies numériques, des croquis, de la vidéo et du son, ce corpus fait état d’un temps de recherche menée durant le mois de février 2022 à l’Espace 251 Nord dans le cadre de la résidence Crescendo#2 en partenariat avec les Beaux-Arts de Liège – École Supérieure des Arts et l’ESÄ – École Supérieure d’Art de Dunkerque / Tourcoing.
Ce projet d’installation prend genèse dans le mythe de l’Atlantide décrit par Platon dans le Timée et Critias. S’inscrivant dans la continuité d’Atlantís, précédente version du projet déjà exposé par l’artiste à l’occasion de l’exposition “Diplômes, à suivre” au FRAC Grand Large de Dunkerque du 28.10.2021 au 02.01.2022.
C’est sur cette base de travail que la démarche de l’artiste à poursuivre ce projet, durant le mois de résidence effectué à l’Espace 251 Nord, s’inscrit. Une opportunité motivée par l’envie de renouveler l’écriture sonore de ce projet au travers de la performance en live. Ces différents éléments de recherche rendent compte, au travers d’une multiplicité de forme physique, du travail numérique entrepris dans l’atelier de la Brasserie Haecht par Alexis Bens. Les photographies présentées ont été réalisées sur le logiciel Blender, logiciel de modélisation 3D utilisé pour créer la forme finale d’Atlantís II. Les croquis en périphérie de celles-ci, retracent les pistes ainsi que les raisonnements engagés. Ils permettent d’entrevoir les questionnements rencontrés par l’artiste dans l’étape de sa recherche. L’usage d’outils numériques de plus en plus inhérents aux défis de la création contemporaine, permet aussi de faire l’expérience de l’installation Atlantís II.

Bringing together digital photographs, sketches, video and sound, this corpus reflects a period of research carried out during the month of February 2022 at Espace 251 Nord as part of the Crescendo#2 residency in partnership with the Fine Arts of Liège – Higher School of Arts and the ESÄ – Higher School of Art of Dunkirk / Tourcoing.
This installation project takes its genesis from the myth of Atlantis described by Plato in Timaeus and Critias. As part of the continuity of Atlantís, previous version of the project already exhibited by the artist on the occasion of the exhibition “Diplômes, à suivre” at the FRAC Grand Large in Dunkirk from 28.10.2021 to 02.01.2022.
It is on this basis of that the approach of the artist to pursue this project, during the month of residence carried out at Espace 251 Nord, is inscribed. An opportunity motivated by the desire to renew the sound writing of this project through live performance. These different elements of research reflect, through a multiplicity of physical forms, the digital work undertaken in the workshop of the Haecht Brewery by Alexis Bens. The photographs presented were taken using Blender, a 3D modeling software used to create the final shape of Atlantís II. The sketches on the periphery describs as well as the reasoning involved. They allow us to glimpse the questions encountered by the artist during the stage of his research. The use of digital tools, increasingly inherent in the challenges of contemporary creation, also makes it possible to experience the installation Atlantís II.
